How often should a hedge be cut?
Most formal hedges benefit from one or two cuts during the growing season, while vigorous species may need more frequent attention. We recommend timing based on the species, condition and finish you want.
Can you reduce the height of an overgrown hedge?
Yes. The safe amount depends on the species and how much live growth remains. We inspect it first and will explain if a staged reduction is more likely to leave a healthy, attractive result.
Do you remove all hedge cuttings?
Yes. Unless you ask to keep the material, clippings and woody arisings are cleared from paths, lawns and borders and removed from site as part of the agreed job.
When is the best time to cut a hedge?
Light maintenance is often carried out during the growing season, but major work may suit another time depending on the species and wildlife. We check for active nesting birds before starting and postpone work where required.
Can you cut tall or difficult-access hedges?
